About the advisory

Built in Africa. Engaged with the world.

Thoko M Reputation Advisory is a senior strategic reputation advisory practice helping leaders and institutions build, protect and strengthen reputation through strategic narrative, stakeholder alignment and trust-building communication.

This is not a traditional PR or media agency. The practice is built around judgement, reputation strategy and executive-level counsel.
Thoko Modise

Founder & Strategic Adviser

Thoko Modise

Thoko is a senior strategic reputation adviser and narrative architect whose experience spans broadcasting, government communication, nation branding, institutional reputation, international diplomacy, global convenings and high-level stakeholder engagement.

Her perspective was forged in South Africa and across the continent — in newsrooms, public institutions and nation-branding environments where reputation has real social, economic and political consequences. International platforms later broadened that perspective, but Africa remains the foundation of how she understands trust, narrative and institutional legitimacy.

Today, that accumulated judgement is applied through Thoko M Reputation Advisory — working with leaders and institutions where reputation, trust, narrative and stakeholder alignment have strategic consequences.

What the advisory brings

Reputation strategy beyond traditional PR.

Four disciplines sit at the centre of the practice.

01

Strategic Reputation Management

Understanding how leadership, performance, behaviour, communication and stakeholder experience combine to shape reputation.

02

Narrative Architecture

Designing credible narratives and message structures that make complex institutions and leadership priorities coherent.

03

Stakeholder Alignment

Clarifying what different audiences need to understand, believe and experience in order to strengthen relationships and legitimacy.

04

Institutional Trust Building

Helping institutions close the gap between what they say, what they do and how they are experienced by stakeholders.

Signature Advisory

Senior counsel built around the problem, not a communications menu.

The practice is designed for leaders and institutions facing reputation, trust, narrative or stakeholder challenges that require judgement before execution.

When organisations call us

Usually, visibility is not the real problem.

Reputation is inconsistent or vulnerable.

Stakeholders no longer trust or understand the organisation.

Leadership is navigating transition, change or heightened scrutiny.

The organisation is complex but lacks a coherent story.

Market or public understanding does not match reality.

Credibility, legitimacy or stakeholder alignment needs to be rebuilt.

Reputation requires more than visibility.

It requires coherence between what an institution says, does and is experienced to be.
